Surface Chemistry of Extremophiles


We are currently involved in two interdisciplinary projects to study the surface chemistry of microorganisms that thrive in extreme environments. One project (funded by New Zealand's NERF project) seeks to utilize microorganisms that survive in elevated temperatures of hot springs of that region. Results from this project are detailed below:

Another project is studying the biogenic mineral phases that form as a result of metabolic processes of microorganisms of Arctic ecosystems. More information will be posted shortly.
